    Burnley v Newcastle United

Used to love the encounters with Newcastle in my youth, apart from the Supermac days, I remember standing on the long side when a Hobnailed boot got slung over the police line and hit the fella standing next to me, rough times for Football, so was the 74 FA Cup Semi- Final with them (Below) when me and the brother in-law could only get Newcastle end tickets, one of the only times I've been as quiet as a mouse at a match, bow legged Mac ended our chances that day but it could have been so so different.

Our forward line will maybe be a bit bare tonight and we are on TV, hope we don't turn in a good performance though and pull something out of the bag.

    The good old days

    From BBC
    Head-to-head Offers some hope

The two most recent meetings came in the 2014-15 Premier League season and were both drawn.
They are the only two fixtures between the clubs in 34 years since a Division Two match in March 1983.
Both sides have won 41 of their 101 contests, with 19 draws.

    Burnley

Burnley have only won one of their past seven home league matches (D3, L3).
All four of Burnley's Premier League home wins in 2017 have been by a 1-0 scoreline.
Matches at Turf Moor have produced four goals this season, the fewest in the division.
Their six-match unbeaten league run came to an end against Manchester City last weekend, when they failed to have a shot on target.
Clarets boss Sean Dyche celebrates five years in charge on the day of the Newcastle game.

    Newcastle United

Newcastle have only lost one of their past seven league matches (W4, D2).
However, they have won only one of their past 15 Premier League away games (D3, L11).
They have conceded just one first-half goal this season.
Newcastle have lost nine consecutive top-flight matches on a Monday. All nine have come away from home, with the Magpies failing to score on seven occasions.
Only Manchester City midfielders David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne (both six) have provided more Premier League assists than winger Matt Ritchie (five) this season.

What does Sean mean by this though
In the short to medium term, I am going to continue working hard as I have done."

He's a better talker than any Politician is our Sean Colner, although he doesn't lie, he's very honest and he seems like he's telling you a lot when in fact he's deflecting the question(s).

Your quote (where did you get it ?) on first viewing seems ominous.

My first ever game at the Turf.1954 or 1955.Burnley V Newcastle.

    Score 0-1 (Jackie Milburn)

The only player I can remember playing for us was McKay.I had a seat in the stand with my Dad & uncle but subsequent games we transferred to the Enclosure.

Just looked it up on Clarets Chronicles barrie_burn.

    22nd January 1955

McDonald, Adamson, Cummings, Gray, Mcllroy, Holden, Shannon, Pilkinton, Winton, Rudman, Walton, McKay was mentioned but was probably a sub.

Milburn scored in the 62nd minute in front of a 23,467 crowd.

I was but 8 days short of 11 years behind you with my first viewing of Newcastle at home as an 11 year old, again we lost 0-2

    .

Evening all.....same as for me - we can defend well - but need more quality in the final 3rd - and shots on goal.

    C'mon Clarets - lets grab all 3
