Given the return of injured players over the last few games would Ray have got the results Laurie managed to dig out of the team?
Why or why not?
Probably. And I think we probably would have ended up winning the league under Ray. My concern was more how we'd do under him in a better league. We'll never know, though.
Think Ray was too fixated with not losing and that was reflected in the attitude of the players. Since his departure, the players appear to be playing with less fear, and seem intent on moving forward. Also, have noticed midfielders now appear to have permission to have a shot from outside the box with which, once they find range, will provide some spectacular goals.
Don't think Ray ever got the concept that the best form of defence is attack, and that's a pity, because winning the league with a manager who loves the club as much as us would have been all the sweeter.
Possibly would have won the Dumbarton game, but against St Mirren we played with a desire and freedom I haven't seen for over a year. He would have been more about containing St Mirren and they would have taken at least a point from the game in my opinion.
I dont believe for one minute we would have won either of the two games had Ray remained in charge, only the players can answer why their work rate went through the roof for Laurie even Fraser was trying his heart out.
Dunno how many points Ray would've managed in the last two games but one thing is for certain, There is no f*cking way Ray would've won the league.
No because McKinnon wouldn't have made the changes Ellis did. Matty Smith would still be in the U20's under Ray.
That St Mirren game, whilst not spectacular in the slightest, was the most enjoyable match i've witnessed since before McKinnon took over.
Great guy and a top Arab but lets be honest, the football he served up during his entire tenure was beyond garbage.
