We had a belt league too.
Some teachers you didn't want to go near. Served like Rod Laver.
Belt was only effective when used without regard for human flesh.
Otherwise we would take four then draw away to collect more hits.

Others like Peahade (Turbyne) who were saps.
When he belted the hale class for going mental wi the recorders, we used to join the end of the q for 2nds and even 3rds for some cheeky chappies.

Anyone remember the legend Alex Plenderleith Lavery ?,he had two belts and both had a name. When you were called out in front of the class for punishment you were allowed to choose which belt you preferred for punishment!.He went to the Admiral Bar most day's for his liquid lunch.Best day's of my life FACT.

GB, I hated it there, left when I was 15. I remember there was a load of us away to get the belt from the biology teacher (Ms Somerville I think) when we were waiting the door burst open and it was Cheezer the psycho physics teacher. that was a sare ane as he dealt with it.

Alright J and G, I used to get belted in every physics lesson from Barry Blue if you remember him. G, Lavery I remember running up and down a class challenging people to a fight, it was the afternoon right enough and he was reeking of drink. I was in the B2 class that was singing no surrender to pinnochio then boys climbed out the windows when he locked us in the classroom. Fekin hooligans when i think back, i'd would've gone mental if my bairn had done that. dont think my old man ever heard what went on...just as well.

Hey what skale were you lot at. Sounding like the Kirkton.

I myself went to the centre of accademic excellence AKA the Rocky.

Class discipline was equally bad there.

Hey Deebuster. Peahade was music teacher at the Rocky when I was there 68-72.

Got to add. Stuart White who works at Tannadice Hospo was my metalwork teacher. Had a very sore belt and didn't take any sh1t but don't take anything away from the man. I have the greatest of respect for him. Absolute gentleman.
