One mention to Buffon. Amazing career. 175 international caps and 20 years service. Shame it ended on a low for him

He also kept his chin up and shook hands with the Swedes like a real man.
Italy had no creativity, skill or urgency.

That's right Hodger they looked very poor, Like many other National sides , too many imported players in their respective leagues not allowing home grown players to progress,

Not really a fan of Italian football but I have to say how all the players staff [& fans] really sang the National anthem with a great deal of vigour & pride
Now watch England tonight by way of contrast
Mind you our National anthem is hardly inspiring is it?

This could be a long running theme on here couldnt it Ponty, how we/England could and should have done better over the years, and why didnt we etc ?.
I still think in our lifetime, one of the best chances of us winning the WCup was in 2002. We looked like we had the eventual winners Brazil in trouble in the Qtr Final (ok it was only 1-0) and we were approaching half time, and what happened after that is just ridiculous.
I think we missed out big time as well when it came to the American WCup in 1994, and remember Roy Hodgson was there as manager that year with the Schweisse team!! (that means Switzerland of course lol.)
