As for the poppy bullies, its upto the individual to decide if they wanna wear the poppy or not, it's not compulsory and folk can have an opinion on it regardless of the poppy bullies wanting to force everyone in the country to wear them. Personally over the last few years touring Europe, i've paid my own respects visiting the cemetaries large and small across northern France and Belgium, visiting the big ones like Tyne Cot, Thiepval etc, the normandy ones from WW2, and many many small ones often in the middle of fields, kept in pristine condition by the French, and it's a very very humbling experience, don't ever ever let anyone tell you that you're unpatriotic because you're a socialist.....
I think the point is from a few on here is that this thread didn’t need to be about politics.
It was meant just for whoever chose to pay there respects.
The fact that animal carried on with it when quite clearly people kept saying keep politics out of it is not only disrespectful imo but also arrogant to a point.
Not every thread has to be about politics but that’s how he wanted to make it.
Personally I think that’s quite sad.

Like a few said just start another thread if he wanted to discuss the right and wrongs of conflict.
This thread wasn’t or isn’t the time.

Ps don’t normally disagree with you Millmoor pal just think animal got this one wrong.

Coincidence my uncle who died before I was born just after the 2nd world war. I was named by my Mum after him. R I P uncle George. After that my Mum shed all her tears on her brother. Even when my Dad died she couldn't cry no more. Mention of a German sent my Mum into meltdown. What did he die for? look at Rotherham town now, tell me why?

What's with your inability to spell Britain?

You will find that most of the Continent and especially the former Soviet Union nations do respect the UK's role in WWII and are still recognising & awarding British Sailors on their role in the protection of the supplies it was receiving in the War. France, Belgium and Holland too recognise the sacrifices made.
Those who don't recognise British values and hide behind either a Union Jack or any home nations Flag while spouting vile hatred and abuse at those different to themselves are the ones who are disgracing the country.
And the Poppy Police are an embarrassment and should stick to posting their whines in the Nazi sympathising DM which too is an affront to British values which pretends it's the protector of.

I was quoting the Frog. Perhaps a sign that the forum is continuing to decline if it's tools don't work properly along with it's mods. It is afterall one of the saddest links to RUFC an embarrassment nobody would bother quoting a topic here and be outed as one of it's ''tools''.
No wonder out of the thousands that attend matches only a tiny minority even bother with it among those that do few even bother posting about RUFC.
The Forums a joke may as well shut it down and start again.

I was in the garden centre cafe at Wentworth on Sunday morning having a late breakfast. At 10.55 the manager came out and announced we would observe a two minute silence when he rang a bell at 11.00. Sure enough all this happened and everybody fell silent for a couple of minutes. There must have been upwards of 80 people in the room. A shame a few more didn't stand up as we did at our table but, nevertheless, an excellent response and, as an expatriated Brit on a visit, something that reminded me positively what this country is about...

I have parents who were on opposite sides in the two wars and have relatives who died in the service of both countries. I remember all of them on this day. It would be hard not to...

This thread has just emphasises my point on a majority of contributors here are, this forum should consider removing itself from being what it thinks is the voice of RUFC. It is not. It's Less than 1 % of RUFC's support and half of those here don't even support the club.
I would like to ask any members on here to back up there points by wearing a RUFC shirt with their forum name printed on the back so we can link you to your posts and discuss them openly face to face.

On this thread we've read about folk's relative's exploits in the wars, we've read and seen pictures of a poster's family members currently in the Royal Marines, all stuff we wouldn't have read about if this was just a footy board, and frankly makes the board what it is.

Well said fella, I think it keeps the board interesting, especially for people like myself who miss most games.

For me, it's almost a virtual seat at NYS, sat amongst other Millers...arguing about a certain player, moaning that the beer is crap, the bloke in front should sit down, or that petrol has gone up again ;-)
