Think that last 10/15 showed that we're a proper goalscorer away from being a very good team. They'd have turned one of those countless loose balls in the box into a goal, which neither Stead nor Forte ever really looked like doing.

Useful point, though - thought Stevenage looked a pretty useful side with a dangerous front two. Just got to back it up with a win at home next Saturday.

    Agree with you Jacob..
We will always score goals but a poacher is what we need with youth on his side.
Trouble is they don't come cheap.
Mr hardy will have to dig deep unless we can do some form of loan.
A point away from home is pretty ok

Just got home from the game
    Poor first half
Too many long balls up front
    Second half much better
    Stiil not very convincing
    Hopefully January will sort that
    Good turnout from Notts fans

We should have won this game easily if we hadn't resorted to hoof ball in the first half.... We never look like winning games with this awful system. It was only when we started passing it around that we looked capable.. Why do we not learn from this...

....and in the second half, Fitz started rolling the ball out to Dicko and Toots so that the "launch angle" was slightly different of the ball coming into the penalty area ie instead of Stead having his back to goal, he was at 30/35 degrees and could see defenders and his team-mates better.

KN is obviously sticking to a game-plan that is working, 2 points per game is automatic promotion form......simply bypass the backs and midfield, pump it up to the 2 forwards in the oppo half, and let the midfield four feed off the scraps.....when it works, it works well and keeps the pressure off our back 4, when it isn't working (the first half yesterday was proof that other teams have done their homework on us....it ain't difficult homework)....it stinks.....40 odd punts up the field, one shot on goal from a Grant freekick.

My second point is that the "midfield scrap for the knockdowns" only works in our favour when we are pressing the ball with a measure of intensity, otherwise we are constantly defending....over 90 minutes we are bound to concede goals (listen to KN when he gives his post-match talks...losses are always explained as "not enough intensity" and "not sticking to our gameplan"

Second half we upped the intensity, changed a few of the launch angles, put them under pressure, capitalised on a defensive error by their back 4....and almost ended up winning it.

    In KN we trust....COYP

Becoming a bit of a theme that we need something to happen to start playing. An opposition goal, or a sending off. Be nice to go at it from the off against Cheltenham.

Our transfer business in January can determine our season, and it's going to be mostly about forward players. We need a dominant back-up centre-forward for Ameobi, because Stead just isn't strong enough to perform that role and his goal scoring return as a second striker is declining rapidly. In fact, I would be inclined to let Stead depart and use the money to sign a second, younger, ideally pacey forward with a real eye for goal.

We're also still a good, athletic centre-half short, but that's probably the lesser priority at present.

That's not going to happen if KN is true to his words:

I would say that a lot of our goals come from sort of Stead plastic in build up, the goals are coming from everywhere and that’s all that matter. This is a guess, I’m thinking apart from the EFL cup thing, Stead must have played in all other matches. He’s far too important to let go.
