    Northern Ireland's World Cup failure

2 of the worst games I've seen this season with neither team looking like scoring. At one stage I would have kicked the pair of them out of the competition. It's no good blaming a diabolical refereeing decision for Irelands' failure to score in both games. Switzerland were just as bad and I can't believe that a team with so little quality has actually qualified. They were there for the taking but unfortunately Ireland had no one capable of making something happen. A gallant attempt but not quite good enough.

Never mind they will be able to follow the example of Wales and have an open-top bus tour of the locality to celebrate failure.

I decided to give this one the swerve. Sounds like it was one of my rare good decisions.

I have honestly never heard of half of the Norn Iron team but a refereeing mistake on Richter scale magnitude probably cost them a lucrative month out in Russia.

I fell asleep around the 70th minute according to the wife.

Switzerland 11th England 12th N Ireland 23rd in World rankings shows the size of the task and they had to play a bit like us to stand a chance. To an outsider our games are not that pretty either,
To be robbed by another diabolical refereeing decision after Thierry Henry’s handball goal must be tough to take. Pity they didn’t have VAR.5

I'm sure it was the Republic who got robbed by Henry's hand OC?

I've said before that football's biggest problem is referees, and here is yet another fine example. What sort of mentality will give a penalty for something like that ? How that cretin gets to referee at any level, never mind internationals, is beyond me.
