I think in this case it was just a bit of lazy journalism not really grabbing the lack of importance put on it by United. I had a work colleague who is a Dumbarton fan who rarely brings up football even say to me on Monday I see you lost to Crusaders. The result was noticed by a lot of people. For what it is worth I think we should have treated it a bit more seriously with the new manager coming in because it did put more spotlight on the game and how the players would respond to the new man.
Spot on Psych. He's probably the only Scottish Writer I enjoy listening and reading to. You should NEVER go into a game of football not bothered and/or un-phased about winning. That loser mentality needs eradicated at our Club from top to bottom. Roll on Sunday!

Spiers says he stopped supporting Rangers because of the bigotry, so what does he do? He takes his kids to watch their greatest rivals with an equally bigoted support.

He obviously thinks that singing songs about the IRA and booing Remembrance Sunday isn't as bad as singing songs about the UVF and fawking the pope.

Football supporters don't do what he did and that's because he isn't really a football supporter. He doesn't talk or write like a real fan, it's just a career move for him to write about the game.

I couldn't give a monkeys if he says he has a soft spot for United, he's never said or written anything insightful or interesting about football that I've come across.

Just my opinion - although I'm right.

So that shows what he knows. I doubt if Spiers was at the game Saturday either with Palmer having the gig.
he was 12 when he stopped supporting rangers. Yer right about the change of heart. Cycled with him and his family many times - he loves his celtic socks and yes probably because of his kids. My point is he isnt a hun loving journo.

no snouts horses mouth mate xx

And yeah i am a one his ilk and not Mike

Agree with you that he prob wasnt at game and its just a piece he had to write - it wasnt that bad but im biased.

I like him personally and professionally i think he has a soft spot for us.

Days on from our "shocking and embarrassing" exit from the fizzy pop cup I can't believe some of the bollo*ks I've read/heard. Have yet to meet one United fan who cares that we got knocked out. Oh and spiers is a pr*ck, once a hun always a hun whatever he writes.
