So how do I go - capsule type Nespresso thing or maybe a bean to cup type machine? Dont want a filter machine as I always end up throwing loads of it away as it stews to a point of vileness.

So anyone got any clues and how good is the coffee in the little capsules?
Save yourself some money, there are so many good instant coffees out there now that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference if got a decent brand and put two spoons in instead of one!

Why not just put the kettle on?
Here in Singapore it's very uncommon to have a coffee maker at home.

Tis true, at the minute I'm into nescafe gold 'barista' , it's about 6 quid a tin mind but love it nice and strong and put 2 spoons in as you say, there's a few more in that range too but not got round to them yet, I guess Rog wants something simple where you just load a capsule and put your cup under rather than keep wiping spilt milk up or blowing sugar away

The latest I've noticed is including built-in coffee makers being included in fitted ********. Total waste of money, says Faber as he lowers himself onto his aubergine-hued bidet.

It's a swear word, the filter won't allow a male to type it

Maybe its a cultural thing out here. Few buy a coffee maker at home and mind you Singapore is a very modern city.
But then again we have loads of coffee shops at almost every corner. Most locals prefer own blend coffee. And there's a Chinese style and an Indian style brewed coffee.
At home we buy bottles, usually Nescafe. Have a hot water dispenser. Take a teaspoon, add water and suger, hey presto, there's a cup. You can substitute sugar for condensed milk. I sometimes add a tiny bit of salt for enhanced taste
