Millburn Avenue is named after the burn - it rose between the first and second Craigs and the Lower Burn joined it in what is now Queen Street.

Milldamhead (how I was taught to write it) too. I did a school project around 100 years ago about Milldamhead. Must dig it out...

As stated in earlier post it rose in Craigs near what is now Craigs Farm through Barkerland and under the railway line near what is now the bus garage down Millburn Avenue to Milldamhead then on down Brooms Road past Robertsons Wood Yard (Morrisons) where it was joined by the Lower (Lore) Burn in Queen Street and so on to the Millhouse Dam with its tanneries, kilns etc. A smaller burn called the Gutter of Calsay rose near Munches Street and down Bank Street (the Stinking Vennel).

The Burns were also exposed a while back when workmen were digging up Queen Street
