3 Things We learned about England after the Winter Friendlies

    1) Joe Gomes is a natural England footballer and fitted in superb.

    2) Solanke, Abrahams, Loftus-Cheek are not up for the job and are only playing as Mr PBP likes his youngsters.

    3) No goals in the 2 games - we are a 1 man team up front.

I don't like this, "They came up through the young Lions ranks" malarkey "so they are good enough for the first team".

That policy excludes players like Pope and Tarkowski.

I still think Southgate is an eejit.

I'll say this for him, he appears to have sorted the defence out, he's got rid of Smalling, consigned Rooney to the dustbin of history, and while fielding a severly under-strength team, put out such a well organised defence that we've managed to stop Germany and Brazil scoring against us.

I've never been a fan of his but, after those last two games, I'm a bit more hopeful he might turn out better than some of the clowns who have been doing the job over the last twenty years.
