Article in the chronicle about the conversation that Rafa had with him and told him to find a new club etc.

However what caught my eye was that he admitted he didn't always try his best:

"It’s difficult to say. I’ve had periods where maybe I haven’t put in 100 per cent of the work that I know I should have. Maybe if I had, I might still be playing there now,” Ameobi said of his Newcastle career.

At least he seems to have grown up a bit and now is putting in that effort at Bolton but surely he must have been aware he needed to put effort in. That says a real lack of something is taught down the line.

I sadly suspect that attitude is fairly common with younger players these days once they've made a first team start or two.
