When I was a youth in the 60's I used to go to a club in Pitt St where I would meet others of a like minded disposition [there was just 5 of us] & discuss for many an hour, ways & means of how we could help our fellow man & improve life for others while you lot were out getting p1ssed
Can't remember for the life of me what the place was called though

I used to love the Ba Ba. Some top acts came in them days, Bob Monkhouse, Les Dawson, Ronnie Dukes and Rickie Lee, Bobby Vee we even had Joseph Locke, that was before his Locke Park gig. I remember taking this lass who I fancied and spending all my doss on her and I put my last half crown on 0/00 and it came up, happy days.
Another good night was the friendship at Gawber, Fri, Sat, Sun and Monday's.

I said to the wife that 20 years ago you wouldn't have been able to get near the bar.
I used to drive a black cab in Blackpool in the '90s and there were queues outside every bar. Now it's more fashionable to get pi55ed before they go out. They don't know what they're missing.
I was born in '57 and I don't think there was a better time to live. The music, the football and the social life.
I went to *****cats once, the night I came over to watch us knock Man City out of the League Cup. I stood on the kop with my young nephew with all the City fans because I couldn't get a ticket for the home end. Gerry and the Pacemakers were on and he finished with 'You'll never walk alone'. It brought a tear to the eye.
*****cats was a cracking night Hodger , you had to be through the doors at the weekend for 7.30pm or it was " sorry not tonight lads " .

Coachloads from all over the north descended on the place at weekends .

Frontier at Batley was another cracking night , loved those live acts / disco places , I've always enjoyed all kinds of music so Shalamar , Jacko , ABC and Dexys Midnight Runners didn't bother me even though I bought The Jam , Undertones and The Clash records .

Wouldn't swap my day's on the raz either mate .

Couldn't believe how dead the tarn was last friday night , times and cultures change I suppose .
