Selling SA and GMS was huge for us that season but i don't think selling them was the biggest mistake. yes it lost us any momentum we had that season and lost our two most creative players before a cup final but the summer was where our biggest problems really began!

    1. Jackie Mac got to keep his job after having a poor 2nd half of the previous season and contract clause stuff released.
    2. he then decided that instead of replacing key players such as Rado and fojut with experienced players, went for untested options.
    3. Waited to the end of the window before signing a recognized replacement for Ciftci.
    4. relied heavily on injury prone/inconsistent or inexperienced players. Dow, Bilate, erskine, spittal, fraser, connelly, bodul, morris, zwick, donaldson.
    5. Aaron Kuhl and Rodney Snjeder.............

Jackie mac started the slump for us. the jan window beforehand didnt help matters but it showed how clueless jackie was afterwards then after getting the chance to have a summer to rebuild, his signings suggested he had given up.

I am finding it difficult to believe that guys are now defending a decision to sell our two best players for under their value, weeks before playing the buying club in a highly winnable cup final, while remaining only 4 (?) points behind said team in the league, all after having raked in millions over the previous 18 months or so from previous sales which put us into a financially strengthened position which meant we could refuse it and with the decision being taken from the comfort of a nice hotel room in Australia thousands of miles away from where the decision maker should have been at the end of one of the most crucial windows in the Club's history.

Case in point - could you have imagined what Wee Jum's reaction would have been to a pathetic Tim bid for Luggy and Narey in January 1983?

Not much point in looking back, we're not going that way. Moving forward, going up!

When I read this thread my first thoughts were "ST has a new username: thefutureistangerine4"

He probably has half a dozen.

This exactly. I will never forget nor forgive him for this utter muppetry of the highest order. Indefensible.

However he is due some credit for more recent times I suppose. Certainly backed Raymondo with funding and perhaps he has carefully chosen the right guy in Shabba this time, I think so. The club is on the up , no doubt about it. Couple of decent signings in the window and we could really do the business. He has a lot of wrongs to put right but is begining to do so.

I've met TFIT4 a few times and can confirm he is definitely not ST.

Taking this decision on its own and for a moment forgetting the past Thompson has made a brilliant decision getting Shabba as our manager, I still doubt he could ever do enough good and win the majority of fans back though.
He's made it clear he'd leave once we were back up for the obvious reason the clubs stock is higher in the SPL so hopefully we do get back up and he moves on.

    This

Can't disregard any positive things pre Jan 2015 or anything just now either

Still remain in the better the devil you know camp until we have a viable replacement down the line to take over, for now everyone should try and Unite for the rest of the season

The quicker we are back, the better, and it will be very sweet
