Based on his track record, the 'succession' of Emmerson Mnangagwa does not bode well. He may try to present a new 'softer' face but I'd say he's more likely to be a wolf in sheep's clothing. We will no doubt see him operating in a more statesman like fashion but I wouldn't hold my breath about free elections and an open economy. He's more Putin than Mandela.
