Great read - brought back many memories for me. I knew Betty a wee bit, but hubby Alec more. Many was the time I got him in to paint n decorate my house. He always had stories to tell about how the Missus was forever looking after anyone connected to the club all day, then come home to look after their him. Diamonds like them really are few and far between these days.
And, the part in the article about O'Donnell coasting past opponents in his early days ... I'm so glad to have witnessed that; it really was like a cartoon when he turned on the turbo. I stood agog, with everyone around me doing the same thing - mouths wide open, and chins dropping to the ground in wonder. Great days - let's hope for another one on the 26th.
