Charges were dropped yesterday.......seems not wishing the truth to be aired in court perhaps after all.....

Was directly involved in this and charges should never have been brought. ST thought he was being filmed (he was not). ST reacted aggressively to this and ended up on his ass. Police preferred his account to the other guy and he was charged. Procurator Fiscal finally seen sense (perhaps because the only real witness was ST's wife and not sure she is that happy with him these days......)

    Common sense has finally prevailed.

Agreed, ST should have been put in his place long before now, especially given weight of witness statements proving his version to be incorrect.

Part of me still wishes that this young man and the truth could have been heard in court and maybe with DCT accurately reporting rather than the skewed press reports read by all so far, his character would have been cleared of this.

If there is nothing in place to keep the lad quiet then i hope he sings to the papers with this.

Glad the truth won through in the end as STs actions to save face could have damaged the lads chosen career.

The report in the tele mentions a couple of times about how the incident started due to ST believing he was being filmed. The obvious interpretation of that is that ST has reacted aggressively and that was the cause of the scuffle. As the aggressor if anyone should have been charged it should be him (actually none of it was aggressive enough for either to be convicted of criminal behaviour). The police need to take a look at themselves here.
They were heavy handed and not interested in the truth.

If grabbing the young man by the neck from behind counts as aggression you’re bang on.

ST was the one who pressed for Police action and given the witness statements they got no idea how the Procurator allowed this to progress any further.

Pity someone couldn’t be billed for the costs of wasted police time that’s been met by the public purse.

According to the police ST did not want chris charged. It was over zealous police.

ST probably didn’t want the boy charged as once he’d calmed down he realised (again) that he is a bit of a dick.

The Police’s hands are now tied, if a matter is reported to them that is a ‘crime’ it has to be investigated regardless of the victim’s wishes. It’s to protect vulnerable victims from being bullied/intimidated into retracting their complaint.

I can only assume ST was the first to contact them so rightly or wrongly he becomes the ‘victim’
