Steven Thompson, in his 'Herald' column today, argues that penalties 'even themselves out'. They don't. Last season Celtic got 11; we got 4; Partick got 1. And that's just numerically; getting a penalty in the 89th minute when you're 6 - 0 up or 6 - 0 down up isn't as meaningful as it would be at 0 - 0 in a cup final. It's a version of the 'law of averages'; I have no faith in it at all.
