Really really hope Queens come up with something better than the current badge.
That new Leeds crest is horrendous. Would like to see Queens with a new modern looking one for their centenary celebrations

Arrol-Johnston FC (unsure when formed as the works team that produced motor cars that can still be seen at the Glasgow Transport Museum)
5th King’s Own Scottish Borderers (formed 1908 – formerly Maxwelltown Volunteers - formed 1896). These clubs closed down in 1915 for the duration of the Great War.

In 1919 a public meeting was held in Dumfries Town Hall to consider how senior football could be revived. Rather than reinstate the old clubs, it was proposed that a new, professional club be formed the following season to draw together support from Dumfries and Maxwelltown areas. The proposal was accepted unanimously and “Queen of the South United FC” was born.
I also recall hearing that Dumfries FC representatives didn't turn up at the meeting.

The first local club to be formed was Dumfries FC in 1869 - they played in the 1876 -77 Scottish Cup before
deciding to concentrate on the rugby code !
The other Dumfries FC - 1897 to 1919 is the one connected with the formation of Queen of the South

It’s only for the one centenary season I think. Back to the white rose after that (if not now given the furore!)

Just a reminder folks if you are at the game today versus Brechin get along to the Palmerston shop situated in the Arena and get your name down to appear on the centenary shirt - only a fiver.

Macron have extended the time you have to get your name on next season's shirt by 4 weeks so if you have not already done so get along to Palmy with your £5 or do it on line !
