    That red card.

I didn't have a very good view on't Turf so had no real opinion on it. I've watched a few replays of it now and I'm amazed to find quite a few pundits saying it was 'harsh' or even not a red at all. I really don't know where they're coming from, both feet are off the ground, it's reckless, dangerous and as clear a sending off offence as you could wish to see imo.

It seems harsh in retrospect but two footed scissors style tackles are reckless and will always risk a red card.

I thought Defour's reaction was awesome, demonstrating just the right amount of damage inflicted without four rolls and a triple palookas.

On reflection and given the general awfulness of Probert's decision, a red card was inevitable!

Zeegelaar had made a couple of suspect tackles before the red card which may have had a bearing on the decision. It was a Yellow all day, red card was harsh but understandable with it being two footed uncontrolled tackle.

changing the topic for a moment I thought a couple of offside decisions that went against us were "harsh"-and that includes our second "goal".

If a video replay of the incident has to be stopped to show a players foot was possibly offside then you can say wonderful decision by the linesman although it had to be a guess; the same linesmen who got it wrong calling Hendrick offside when he wasn't.

There are many "harsh" decisions in a game and we get our share so it doesn't stress me to watch teams like Watford implode occasionally on "harsh" decisions which some of their players did yesterday.

I must be missing something, not only some pundits but two of our respected correspondents on here think it was harsh as well. It's all about opinions I know, but referees have a duty of care to the players, that tackle was dangerous, it would have been a deriliction of duty to allow him to stay on the pitch.

If he hadn't caught Defour would it still have been a red.

There was a close up picture of the tackle somewhere on facebook ,but I can't find it now,it was an horrendous studs up challenge and fully deserved a sending off ..
