We’ve seen some great penalties taken by Steady and Shola this season.
Who’s the best Notts penalty taker you’ve seen?
Being an old ‘un, I’d go back to Ray O’Brien.
I think he’d been at Notts about 4 seasons before he started taking penalties though, as Ian Scanlon and then Steve Carter took them in his first few seasons. That pair weren’t shabby either.

My 2 favourite wingers of all time
Ray O was the first name to come to my mind as well. More recently Jeff Hughes proved he was pretty competent from the penalty spot also.
David Smith under Mick Walker.
A free kick was like a penalty for Ray O'Brien.
Trevor Christie deserves a mention here, but Ray O’Brien was definitely the best. Taking free kicks from outside the area is a different skill and he was tops at both.
Just has to to be Ray
Good shout. Pity we only got one season out of him, due to injury.
Mick Walker did a KN that season. When Warnock was sacked we were bottom, having won 2 of 12 home games.
Walker’s first game was against promotion chasing Tranmere, who we thumped 5-1. He went on to win his first 6 home games and we ended the season in 17th position.
Dave Smith scored a penalty in each of Walker’s first 3 home games.
The following season, Walker’s only full season in charge, is one of my favourite non-promotion seasons.
We hammered Derby and Leicester 4-1 and Charlie Palmer’s goal beat Forest.
Who knows? With Smith in the team we might even have made the play-offs for the Premiership.
Ray O’Brien still gets my vote, though.
