Size Of Your Bag on Matchdays

Has anyone seen the new rules about the size and what's allowed in your match day bag, means our lass will be left at home

Yes it'll certainly upset some that like to fetch the entire kitchen sink just in case they might need to use it

Over recent weeks Rotherham United, along with other clubs in the Premier League and the EFL, have been asked to review our counter terrorism procedures in the build-up to the festive period.

All clubs have been given guidance from the Police and government bodies to try and reduce the threat of any incidents occurring, and as a result Rotherham United will be implementing some new policies starting at this Saturday’s home game with Plymouth Argyle.

It is important to note that there is no known threat to AESSEAL New York Stadium, but these measures are part of an ongoing review we have been working on for the past few months.

It is important that supporters take note of the below advice and do all they can to assist stadium staff.

We would like to thank all supporters for your understanding and co-operation as we look forward to a number of exciting games over the festive period.

    Bag Searches

We have identified various areas where further changes are required and one of them concerns the entry of bags into the stadium on match day. From Saturday (16th December) we will only allow bags into the stadium that are no bigger than 35cm x 20cm x 20cm. This will assist our stewards to search people quicker, reducing any queues at the turnstiles. The club would advise that unless it is absolutely necessary, please leave bags at home.

There are a number of items that supporters need to be aware of that are prohibited from the stadium. These items include, but are not limited to, purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks and luggage of any kind.

Over recent weeks many supporters will have seen bags being tagged by stewards and this will remain the case. Once your bag has been tagged we ask that you keep the tag on the bag until you have left the ground.

    Late Bars

From Saturday we will be leaving bars open and the televisions on the concourse after the final whistle, which will encourage supporters to stay behind after the game and let the traffic disperse.

    Be Alert, Not Alarmed

Acts of terrorism in the UK are rare but sadly there is a likelihood that terrorists will target sporting arenas. Recent events around the world are a reminder of the threat we face.

While concerted action by the Police and security services takes place every day to protect the public it is important for communities to be alert, but not alarmed.

What if you buy something from the club shop before the match and they put it in a carrier bag?

Looks like I will have to leave my two Lidl carrier bags with the cheap plonk in them at home.
