United did not have one meaningful shot on target today. Both teams were poor. There goal was an action replay of Flint’s for BC against us. Same position same ball watching. Billy and Carruthers wer3 both passengers. Our midfield was devoid of ant ideas without four quality players today

This is our Achilles heel. Our squad does not have quality in depth. We rely so much on Coutts, Fleck and Duffy. Carruthers is not good enough.

I don't think there are too many sides in the Championship that could replace all 3 first team midfielders with the same level of quality.

Our midfield 3, I would rank in the top 5 midfields of the division and losing the lot of them would affect any side

The midfield of any team is the part of the team that takes pressure off the defence and adds potency to the attack, like B58 says Wilder has the impossible task to replace those three golden guys who were all missing today with basically three players who should be no more than squad players who can come on during a game and fill in for someone who needs to come off, thats how it has worked for 18 months now and its been successfull.

I watched the first half and it was plain to see there was no invention in the midfield,Carruthers just kept losing the ball,Basham would get into the odd decent crossing position, and Lundstram is very robotic and predictable in everything he does.

No idea how we are going to get out of this downward spiral in the short term, just glad we have got decent points from those early games.
January,we need some recruits what can slot straight into our system and function straight away,Pig home game is coming up fast.

agree with everything you guys have said the depth in squad is just not good enough to stay in top 6 when important players are out the big decision is do we go for it in the january window or do we wait for the summer when more players will be available thats assuming the board back chris of course which is by no means a certainty

    They are all replaceable
Only Coutts is out long term

But as good as Duffy is, he's a clever tricky 32 year old
    Easy to get similar quality

Fleck is a good midfielder but again it shouldn't be a problem bringing in somebody of equal ability

None of them are Messi are they ?

JJB, I think you miss-judge just how good they are for our team mate.
