It really was a game of two halves and we had done well to go in level at half time. I thought that we had the better of the second half and, after seeing a few 'marginal' goals awarded over the weekend, I do feel that Wood was a bit unfortunate to have his ruled out for offside. Who knows what the second half of the season will hold, however, another 8 points should see us almost safe from relegation and we can kick on after that.

Would certainly have been disappointing to lose the game from a penalty that wasn't - though on their recent form, less so than them scoring from any other play....we have Bardsley to thank for that.
First half they were allowed way too much of the ball....so much so you could have imagined we were playing a top end team - we had nothing to offer - no surprises. We came to life during the second half - had some good chances of which one (as mentioned) should certainly have hit the back of the net - but we were all too obvious, annoying as it wouldn't have taken that much extra sparkle for us to open them up and come away with an easy win.
Perhaps that talked of intensity is beginning to take it's toll....the defensive pressure to perform - game after game, knowing that it's all eyes on you if things go wrong - because there's little or nothing at the other end that'll bail us out.
Some nice refreshment in the winter window....do all the world of good.

    Cheers Dave.

"Whilst discussing Burnley on Gillette Soccer Saturday yesterday, Paul Merson suggested that the intensity with which Burnley are obliged to approach every game will take its toll in the second half of the season. It is easy to scoff at such a suggestion, but it is worth recalling that last season, Burnley won only two league matches after the first of February. Uncomfortable though it may be to acknowledge, Merson has a point. Not that one imagines for one second that Sean Dyche isn’t aware of this and no doubt plans are being drawn up for January recruits to be brought in which well help maintain Burnley’s impetus as they tackle the “back nine”.

If there really is anything in this, then you have to keep your fingers crossed that we don't get into Europe. We're possibly running out of steam 18 games into the season, Everton who have been playing in the Europa League, are currently playing Swansea at Goodison, their 30th game of the season.

The implications for a club with our resources, and consequently smallish squad, are obvious.
