Indeed, if only his finishing had matched his work-rate he would have been absoluty top class, but for whatever reason his finishing was atrocious, one or two a season was a poor return for a midfield player who got into the opposition box as often as Deano did.

...and yet he scored one or two proper belters for us! As a box to box midfielder I have not seen his equal, but as you say sinkov with a consistent double figure goal count he would have played for England.
