I have come to realise through bitter experience that based heavily on the law of averages, we cannot trust any player who has come to the Club:

1) on loan

2) short-term contract (to the end of the season, etc)

3) has been signed for free

4) has a history of, or is recovering from injury

5) is out of favour at his home club or previous club, no matter how promising he may be

I have left numbers 7-10 free for others to consider adding to. However, the all embracing 'anyone who signs for Dundee United FC' is not allowed as this would negate this very exercise.
