Surprised at you Kerr what a daft comment. So Rolymiller is to blame for world starvation! I've been a very naughty boy! At least I back policies and would be willing to back policies which would help stop such atrocities happening and I have a very small "greed footprint". Would you and do you?
What would you be willing to give up to help stop people starving to death? With the stuff i read on here, i would guess very little. I know, I know the old "wealth trickle down to solve the worlds problems" argument you will chuck at me...unfortunately the poor are still waiting for it. Wonder what causes the blockage in the system eh?
Tic bloody toc as they say....

...just to add Kerr. Depends what you mean by wealth. Think everyone should have good basics. Health care, education, housing etc. Everyone should be able to have a holiday/ leisure time etc. Everyone should have a job and a reasonable standard of living. I am not materialistic at all , yes i like my basics and yes i mean basics, ask our lass, and am very happy with the way I live and dont see why people cant live like me. If i can do it why cant they? Why do they need big houses and cars for example? Cant they make do with summat smaller.
Put it this way, I believe that there should be no millionaires in the world. Human beings do not need that amount of money to survive comfortably and arguably I am being very generous with that statement.

Roly, This extremely small 'greed footprint' you speak of.
Can we translate that to: Lack of ambition and little drive? Imagine you and Kerr came out of the same 'trap' in life. I'm guessing he's given up more things than you. Studied harder, worked harder, paid more tax and probably had less leisure time. He's hardly daft, is he?
Seems like a fair bloke who believes in a fair society and has done 'his bit' to help. If that means he drives a flashy car and rewards himself with nice holidays and luxuries so what? If he's done it in his own lifetime, fair play to him.
I'll support any cause or policy that helps the masses as long as the (mentally and genuinely healthy) people work hard and contribute.
Why don't your policy makers introduce a taxation system that pays in at source? No avoidance. Just Pay.
Why don't policy makers strip the obscenely and filthy rich and redress the balance? Let them live their current lifestyle but liquidate assets and provide all the things you ask for the worlds needy and starving? Surely in a one person, one vote system it's a winner. Get's the socialists in power tomorrow, that one.
I wonder why they don't do it? Hmmm.
For the record, I believe you genuinely care and you're not materialistic in any way but I do get agitated when you keep telling me, I misunderstand things.
I don't spout the politics of envy. 80% of people you broadly agree with on here do. So envious and hypocritical, it's sad.
MMMassive chips on their shoulder some of them as well.
Happy New Year and sincere good health for 2018 fella.
Think I must just be an old hippy Howdy. Thanks for your kind wishes and the same to you.
Howdydoo
I watched a programme recently which suggested that the interest rates should go negative to encourage spending/investing by the banks.
What's your take on that. Not just you I'll open that to everyone?
For the record, no one, absolutely no one has said that hard work and enterprise shouldn't be rewarded, and good luck to those whose said hard work has rewarded them, that however, cannot be applied across the board, there are many many millions of people in the UK who work their butts off for little reward, in work poverty is now endemic in this country, if you 'harder' working chaps are happy with that, then continue your charade, i'm not, and won't ever be happy with that, a fairer place to live and work is all most people ask.
What do you mean by charade, fella?
