I managed to watch the game, half on B365 and half on a streamed link. Not the best quality but good enough to see we were not embarrassed or demoralised. When you are in a run of form like ours nobody wants a 5-0 reverse where you barely get in to the opposition half.

As it was United could have had half a dozen but we put up a very good defensive display. I got a message from a Utd fan at Old Trafford telling me that Carson ought to be in the England reckoning (Not the first times he's said it). I thought Hudds and Thorne looked very comfortable on the ball throughout and Lawrence was enigmatic, he cares little for the opposition.

When we did break we did so quite well but were generally lacking in numbers.

We put up a fight, it was an entertaining game and Rowett will learn from it. I'm just glad it wasn't a scoreline that could de-rail us.

Special mention to the fans who outsang Utd for 90mins.

From the players that effort and determination will get nothing but 3pts at Birmingham.

I was there, albeit in the home end. It was a game that we didn't embarrass ourselves in but never looked like we had a chance of winning.

On the plus side, it was a damned site better than the last time I was at Old Trafford, back in the horror season. We did give them too much respect in the first twenty but our passing was noticably tighter than I've seen it for a while, we didn't give away possession sloppily and harried at them all night long. 2-0 was a bit unfair and had the ball broke differently in our attack preceding the second goal we could have come away with a draw.

On the downside, we were a clear - if not distant - second best in every area except goalkeeper (Carson was just excellent all night long). Particularly in midfiled we spent a lot of the night chasing shadows and Rashford should have had the game over by half time.

All of that said, we certainly didn't want a replay, came away without any broken legs, showed that we have some depth in our squad and got a morale boosting performance on the night.

Interesting to see Thorne and Lukaku embrace for a long time at fuill time - genuine affection from their time at WBA together, maybe George can convince him to come to us if he needs another loan spell? He could do job / worth a punt / the missing link etc etc.
