Overall Jeremy Peace has done wonders for this Club. When he took control we'd never have dreamt we'd be Premier regulars for most of the century (to date) and run prudently, unlike so many other big name Clubs.
When he put the Club up for sale, though, he promised (as a proper fan) to only sell to the right Buyer, who would promise to have the Club's interest behind the deal. He waited a couple of years, I think, before his Due Diligence gave Mr.Lai the thumbs up.
But what's gone wrong? Mr.Lai doesn't appear to have a clue, or a solution to our obvious 2017-18 problems. Presumably he knew what FFP was all about(?) Let's hope he's got something up his sleeve.

    Just my thoughts
He stayed another year and creamed another £2m off the top in wages. He never had the best interest of the club in mind. Just out to line his own pockets. Tell me where all the money has gone? 8 years or so under his tenure @ around £100m a year.

We achieved what we did despite him not because of him. Came in with nothing. Put nothing in. Walked away with around £200m.
No time for the bloke whatsoever.

Midlands has its place just between Barnsley and Motherwell.
It doesn't help when our manager for the past three years has spent that time dumbing us down. Little Albion, should know it's place in the food chain. Describing players as scraps left off the table that the big boys didn't want.

Yep agreed, with that attitude and outlook we were never going anywhere under Pulis, the old saying that standing still in the Prem is effectively going backwards and is exactly what's happened

I will reiterate for the ump****th time on one thread or another...it's only doing the average that keeps the average down...to remain in an average position you must strive for the top, there is a lot of difference between doing the average and achieving the average....innit

Not with you, Whicka. He paid himself an average £1 million a year, which is same as any other Chairman. All he's done is sell his £175m Club to another bloke.
"Where has all the money gone?" The outgoings of the Club are almost = the Income over his 15 years (or whatever).

You are right there Johnny. Giroud is still well liked by Arsenal supporters and was with a few last week so do know! There's zero chance of him coming to us. Start looking at 36 year old has beens whose legs have gone - that's more what our Board will sanction!

Don't agree with Whicka on some things but his comments regarding Pearce are 100% correct - he was in it to line his own pockets and he certainly did that and failed to provide any cash when needed before he left, and effectively took a huge salary on top of his profits before taking refuge in his luxury off shore Jersey mansion. Greedy C UNT!

Lai has zero passion in the club and most likely does not even understand the off side rule. You can bet you bottom dollar on one thing whether you like Pulis or not - he's far happier at a club whose chairman is a fan and most likely on the same wage, if not higher. Strange how Kemp came running back!!!

Funny old game although the laugh is always on us! Anything less than three points on Saturday and we are down and Pardew must take his fair share of the blame - then again it goes back to the Board for a lack of ambition in his appointment!!!!

    Exactly Al.

It drives me nuts on here and on Radio WM when fans start crying...."where's all the £100m a year gone?

HELLOOOOO.........it's gone on wages,we are one of the highest leveraged clubs in the Prem in terms of wages against turnover.

Why can't people understand this simple fact?

One of the ways you get around this problem is to produce your own quality youngsters, play them whilst paying them fairly poorly and then sell them on for s h I t loads like Southampton have done.

We have a pathetically poor owner and a terrible chairman along with a pathetic recruitment guy and the useless Garlick.

It's a shambles from top to bottom.

    Or so they tell us.
I don't know though just whispers. Either way he walked in with nothing and walked out with close to £200m. Yeh he did wonders for us alright.

What made me laugh.they put the season tickets up to "compete" signed James McClean which was fair enough. Then Peace payed himself £2m and stayed on another year.
