But taxpayers demand value for money so the have to use tendering. The challenge is to set quality standards and monitor them with financial penalties for failures. They do seem to have expanded too fast into new markets though.

They was hitting penalties every single day, they didn't know what they was doing, after the first year we had some advisors come around asking what could be done to improve it but the damage was already done by then, the waiting times was horrific, they cut the staffing levels down by half and expected the same work done,I kid you not I know of cleaners who bought their own mops because there wasn't any to use at the hospital,I've worked there twenty years and it was the worst two years of my working life

Lots of football clubs go into admin OC, small, local businesses and individuals take hits every time, no one suggests using taxpayer's money to bail them out though.

Capitalism in the public sector does not work, cannot work and will never, ever work. It is impossible to put profit before people.

When will the fcuking eejits who run this shebang ever learn?

Its a shame that the main people who have got Carillion into this mess will just walk off into the sunset and get another job.

When I was working for Abellio on the buses I only found out 3 years later that another London bus company got closed down by TFL for bad business and in general a very poor record of being able to actually run a bus company, 4 of their Directors got positions on the Abellio board for our Company, its ridiculous.

Pretty much like football in that respect, how many times have you seen a manager get the sack from one club only to turn up at another club not long afterwards
