The pizzagate thing is definitely strange. There's no hard evidence of what is claimed by the conspiracy theorists but those involved probably couldn't have made it all sound more suspicious if they had tried.
Also important to note there are different tiers of conspiracy theory ranging from remotely plausible to bat sh*t crazy e.g. the US intelligence services allowed 9/11 to happen so they would have a pretext to invade Iraq vs planes were never actually hijacked and never actually struck the towers and it was all a massive ruse involving hologram technology and pre-planted explosives.
This also applies to a certain historical event of mass murder that occurred in the early 1940s.
