They were clearing the pitch at 10am when I walked past. Looked like hard work so I just kept walking.

this game is all important ,a win has the possibility of a money spinner tie in the next round ,a loss on the other hand would prob see alot of 50/50 fans saying thats it for the season nout realy to play for apart from a possible playoff which aint untill the end of season if it happens so this is very much make or break hard as nails game for queens ,id like to think we can get thru this match and hopefully draw celtic away in the next round which will give us a massive cash boost which i would like to see spent on getting a couple of quality players in for a playoff push .

Main roads including M74 are clear - forecast good - pitch being cleared - game on at the moment - pitch inspection not planned

Vendors were selling' Rowan Alexander' and ' Forget the rest , Queens are the best ' rosettes outside the covered end. A big crowd inside Palmerston with thousands of Thistle fans included. My memory might be playing tricks on me but I think a very young Mo Johnson either started or came on and Scotland international Alan Rough was in goals for the Jags. Highlight of the game for us was a Gerry Phillips goal from close in as we went down 3-1 on the day. This was one of only two games my dad took me to and we watched it from the stairs up to the main stand.

Over 8500 there that day. You are right about Mo Johnstone and Alan Rough. I was right behind the goal when Gerry Philips scored at the Terregles Street end and got my face in the front page of the Standard showing the Queens fans celebrating. The game came following 4-0 replay wins over both Falkirk and Coldstream (following 1-1 draws) and the 2-0 Palmy win over Motherwell (crowd 5200). We finished 2nd bottom of the Scottish Football League that season.

I have seen that photo before as I can remember legendary Queens fan Jim McCormick in it. --- Jimmy Robertson scored a hat trick away at Falkirk in the replay..
