Would be nice to turn the clock back 70 years to 1948 when we beat the Jags 8 - 2 at Palmy with Billy Houliston scoring 5 of them. However the Maryhill team revenged that thrashing only three weeks later scoring 9 goals without reply at Firhill !

Wow! Back in the days when there were five forwards and most games were like "We'll score more goals than you do"

I agree that the club should get the Terregles Street terracing opened up and filled up with Harry Wraggs fans and try to capitalise on some much needed additional revenue for the club, as attendances continue to fall during the league matches.

I think Leighfield is a more than able deputy should Martin not be fit again. I do agree though that who plays in front of him is becoming cause for concern...

Whether Stirling has been disciplined or not, Naysmith should bite the bullet and restore him as the team is down to the bare bones as it is.

How on earth opening up the Terregles Street end will increase revenue. Thistle will only bring enough fans to fill half the East Stand and remember money will have to be spent on stewarding and catering !

I can see your point. Just give Partick the entire East Stand instead.

Who remembers a massive game from early 1980 ? The match in question was our good selves against Partick Thistle and there was a heck of a buzz round the town beforehand. Vendors were selling' Rowan Alexander' and ' Forget the rest , Queens are the best ' rosettes outside the covered end. A big crowd inside Palmerston with thousands of Thistle fans included. My memory might be playing tricks on me but I think a very young Mo Johnson either started or came on and Scotland international Alan Rough was in goals for the Jags. Highlight of the game for us was a Gerry Phillips goal from close in as we went down 3-1 on the day. This was one of only two games my dad took me to and we watched it from the stairs up to the main stand.

I’ve got this game on DVD , transferred from an old video tape. Maybe not the best of quality but brings back some great memories

February 9th 1980 was when that game was played. Celtic legend Bertie Auld was manager of the Maryhill Magyars then.
