    Very difficult. Amongst other things the generation to which you belong (and consequently the players you have seen and grown up with) could very likely strongly influence your choices. And consciously or otherwise you will feel a bias towards the team you support. Whatever the arguments and as we are talking about 'icons' there is now a very strong case for including Cyrille Regis. I have been taken aback by the extent of genuine comments about Regis the man and the player. I have never seen anything like it. He is an icon and a must for any list.

    Spot on Q. Not sure if I ever saw Lofthouse, Finney or Wright, probably did in my early years, but I was very aware of them.
    I did see Matthews play for Stoke reserves. Old & over rated were my impressions. I was about 9 then!
