Kinnel 12k is some following. Sometimes a wish a were born 15 years afooar a wo so a could've experienced that Clarke/Hunter period as a young adult. Mind you, a didn't do bad missen thinking abart it in the 90s Wilson era.

9k going to old Trafford, Bradford city at ooam in April 97, seeing us win 1 nowt at Anfield, Ipswich play off final at old wembley, ump**** FA Cup runs, the list guz on.

Maybe that's why Ponte has such high expectations cos he were blooded in ararnd all that

The Rotherham game at millmoor, absolute cracker. 2nd biggest crowd of the day. Ian banks were some player, that hat trick goal was pure class. He was obviously idolized judging by the crowd singing his name. I only saw him when he returned to oakwell at the latter end of his career, when his best days were behind him but he was still capable the odd time. I remember that goal he scored at Swindon in the early 90s which was top notch

Tha would have enjoyed Anfield later on that year pass in the league cup quarter final .

18k travelled from South Yorkshire , many arriving late due to fog on the M62 .

When the match kicked off there were about 5k reds in the ground but at the end it was some sight .

Packed in like sardines behind the goal , we had the whole end and all the seats in which is now the centenary stand .

Biggest following I've seen apart from wembley and the millennium stadium .

I doubt anyone has taken that many to Anfield since .

We went on one of three special trains and saw the whole game , afterwards we had to walk the 3 miles back to Lime Street unescorted , they bussed us up pre match .

Frightening mate , loads of derelict buildings on the walk back and bricks were raining down on us the whole 3 miles .

    Kin brilliant !!!

Only managed to get as far as Stafford on the M6 & had to turn round at about 8.00 pm due to fog
Oddly enough me & my son were invited by a mutual friend to travel with the Midlands branch of LUFC supporters club who were more than welcoming to us "outsiders" & were good company [probably because they weren't real scousers]

They were still coming into the ground with just 5 minutes to go exile , a real pea soup .

Shame in many ways that so many didn't make it or arrived very late .

I'll never forget the sight of that following when the whistle blew for full time and we had earned a replay against the best side in europe at the time .

No squad rotation then or leaving the big guns on the bench , we played the proper Liverpool , Dalglish , Souness , Hansen , Kennedy the whole bag of mashings .

Aylott should have won it late on with a free header he put wide .

    Unforgettable night .
