    Newcastle sale talks ended

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has ended talks with businesswoman Amanda Staveley over a takeover that could have been worth around £250m.
He wants over £300m. No other offers are on the table and if he doesn’t splash the cash and they get relegated it will only be worth £100m. He still wants to sell,
Ashley has supported Newcastle financially for many years. The £129m in loans he has given the club are all interest free.
His incremental purchase of 100% of Newcastle shares cost a total of around £134m in 2007.
That is a £263m investment in all - leaving him £13m out of pocket on a bid of £250m.

Should make our game next week interesting. Would have thought the loans were repayable separately

Good points OC --but you try telling that to a Newcastle fan --they are blind and deaf!

Always interesting to hear the Geordies pontificating about where, in the grand scale of things, they think they should be, they never have got over Man U pipping them for the title in 1995/6. Shame really --looking forward to 31 January!!
