I've been prescribed one for the first time in my life at 56.

Quite a scary prospect for me personally.

Any of youlot use one?

If you're talking Ventolin Inhalers, no problem - certainly not 'scary'. I've used them since I stopped playing (aged 34) for asthma. Many people use them. (Lucky for me I only need them in Summer when the pollen rises).

Used one for last 40 years Mick. Give you good instant relief from asthmatic conditions. Not scary at all. I have noticed an increase in younger people using them as well. Is this symtomatic of our air quality these days?

My daughter has used one for years. I don't know the precise relief it brings but she swears by it. To be honest it is only very very occasionally I am aware of it. I have been with her all day and cannot recall her using it though no doubt she must have. I don't think it would be a big deal at all Mick.

I was on prescribed Inhalers around 2007 which I did not need.

2012 I ended up in hospital because I had 3/4 litre of fluid removed from around my heart area, after extensive tests it transpired i had myocardiopathy. a disorder in which the heart muscle is so strong that it does not relax enough to fill with the heart with blood and so has reduced pumping ability. Been on tablets ever since.
As for prescribed Inhalers turned out I never needed them.

My wife was also prescribed Inhalers by a Nurse practitioner as she could not get an appointment to see a doctor for weeks.

When my wife finally got to see a doctor, he stopped them right away as they were diong more harm than good.
Doctor diagnosed a chest infection.

Everytime I do an asthma test I fail it. Turns out I dont have asthma but when the volcanic ash cloud came over from Iceland a few years back I almost died, went blue for lack of breath so I have had these inhalers ever since. Preventer and the other for daily use. Dont need the last one often but all of a sudden anywhere any place I lose my breath. I was using these even when I ran a tennis team and played 5 times a week. Its all a bit vague but I dont want to stop taking them even though I get the impression they are trying hard to cut NHS expenses.

When I hear inhalers mentioned previous experience of these makes my blood boil...my sister-in-law's kids all had them and they had terrible asthma to the point where they had steroids pumped into them to strengthen their chests. BUT...on entering their house the first thing noticed was a blue layer of cigarette smoke hanging in the air, the kids would be on nebulisers and she would be standing by them smoking away like a train. She went to the doctor's with bad eyes and they told her she had a film of nicotine on her eyeballs...I **** you not. She still smokes like a train and wonders why her kids never come to see her. Bloody stupid woman.
