A referee should be looking at how a player is brought down, not how he lands!

The ref says he wasn't sure about the tackle, apparently. That may well mean he saw it and was unsure of its legality or otherwise. The rest of the world can say "man, that was as definite a penalty as I have seen". That still doesn't change the fact that he was unsure. In that case, if true, then he was right not to award the penalty. All it does is mean he made a huge error of judgment.

It was a foul, it was inside the area, the penalty should have been given. All of that is true. However, none of us know what, exactly, the ref thought he saw. He acted on what he thought he saw. What he thinks he saw was insufficient to be seen as a foul to him.

That or heblinked and missed it and couldn't give it as he hadn't seen the tackle.

I really don't know. I am merely trying to understand why and trying to explain why he failed to give the penalty.

VAR would solve ALL of this, would take 10/15 secs and we'd get a right and fair decision, but then we wouldn't get 2 pages + of discussion on was it/wasn't it

MadAmster. Don't try and dress it up for the ref he just bottled it because of TV the easiest thing for a ref is to say he wasn't sure Well I was 20 feet away and with out being biased it was so obvious Will also admit I was 10ft away when Fozzy pushed Fletcher for the most obvious penalty I've ever seen against Sheff Wed so I suppose you win some and lose some

We all know over the season these decisions usually even themselves out! But this started off with should it have been a penalty,
OK the ref says he was unsure some say he fell like a paratrooper but the fact is he was fouled in the box, should it have been a penalty yes 100%. Was it given no! Was we robbed yes!

Mista...if you were ‘twenty feet’ away on Friday and ‘ten feet’ away from the Fozzy push against Wednesday doesn’t that mean you were on the pitch? Are you Richard Keogh?

He’s not Keogh, he just borrowed Harry Potter’s Cloake of Invisibility!
And to add, Potter is now furious. Mista forgot where he left it!

According to the rule book it should have been a penalty. The ref saw it and, for whatever reason, didn't want to give it and used the dive as an excuse!
