Your Favourite Old Ground That's Sadly No More ?

Always liked the old Baseball Ground at Derby , always a good reds following and atmosphere .

Boothferry Park Hull , we always won , never saw us do anything else in half a dozen trips over there .

The Old Show Ground at S ****horpe was also a good un and a favourable result , took the place over in 1978 I remember during Clarkie's early tenure .

Did anyone go to the old Springfield Park Wigan for that 4th division clash in 79 .

Pitch were just mud and Clarkie scored a last minute equaliser from a penalty .

There was just a grass banking behind the goal with a little tin stand at the top of the bank and folk were sliding darn it at half time
    on the backs .

Pyssed it darn all the game , all reds kicked Wigan fans art of that side stand and took it over because it war only cover in the ground .

    Bump

B@llocks to discussing another defeat .

If tha goes to our back catalogue tha can discuss a good thumping away win any saturday neet tha wants .

    Huddersfield Town 1-2 Barnsley 1976

Kenny Brown's stunning volley , I still can't believe it over 40 years later .

Kenny Brown was many things but volleys from just inside the box flying into the top corner most certainly wasn't one of em .

Burnden park. Turf moor standing in longside terrace. London rd (standing behind goal). Victoria ground stoke. Blundell park standing. Kippax at Maine rd. roker park. All grounds with good atmosphere bar peterbrough but that gets my vote for that amazing 4-3 game in 2011.

Scoring a goal was brilliant when standing with a good away following in a booze and tobacco smelling terrace. Football I fell in love with. Nar the just gets too many rules and regs. Sit darn, no bad language, no smoking etc, it's w@nk

Another of my old favourites was Bradford Park Avenue ( apart frum a 7-2 hammering ) it was a smashing place to visit , Fans swapped ends at hafe time , that involved walkin across the pitch for some reason
A went back to the Old ground a few years back Albion v Athersley Rec , top ov table match , about 200 Reccas theer that day , great afternoon ,
interesting that they have kept part of the old ground , serving food drinks and a museum with memorabilia of their History , including some signed old international shirts and photos of their ex players

Watched many a John Player League Yorkshire cricket match next door when I was a kid in the 70's .

Remember having a butchers at the football ground during the tea break and it had gone to rack n ruin , pitch was just overgrown with weeds and stand was falling to bits .

The must have brought it back to life years later which is to be applauded .
