Update on Duffy, Tootle & Brisley

Notts County manager Kevin Nolan says he's giving Shaun Brisley as long as possible to recover in time for tomorrow's game.

The Magpies host Crawley Town (7.45pm) but could be without their reliable defender, who hobbled off in Saturday's defeat to Exeter City.

"He got a knock on his leg and has a bit of an haematoma," said Nolan. "We're just waiting now - trying to give him as long as we possibly can.

"He feels good and it's not going to be long, but maybe Tuesday might come a bit too early.

"We won't risk him. He's got to be 100% if he plays - that's how we do it. We don't put anyone at risk because we can't afford to lose them long-term."

The manager revealed that Richard Duffy returned to training today and, although Matt Tootle was absent once more, he is not ruling out an appearance from any of the trio against Harry Kewell's men.

Kevin Nolan is a shrewd tactician and gives little away about his team selection before a game. It's worked well so far.

Used to play with John "Bill" Brindley for Nottingham Boys back in the day. Also raced against him in the Nottingham schools county athletic's championship final at the old Harvey Hadden Stadium ( 220 yds) ....He was just a blur by the time the rest of us hit 50 yd mark from the finish.....

    Why?

To my thinking Saturday is unimportant. Its the league we need to do well in and get promotion.

    haematoma
a solid swelling of clotted blood within the tissues.

That sounds like something you wouldn't want a bit of. Then again, maybe it just means a bruise.
