Belonged to the same cricket club for 45 years, obviously not as a playing member now. Played on grounds all over the Midlands and have met some great people on the way, both as team-mates and opponents. I've enjoyed every minute of it although I have to admit that I do miss the playing side but am still there every weekend watching, except when I'm watching the Baggies of course. Better in the old days as seasons did not overlap like they do now.

You don't get many footballers that are also good at Cricket as you used to. When i was a lad most sportsmen were good at more than one game, apart from Lester Piggott.

Puts me in mind of the Albion v Villa cricket games. Too young to remember just how good they were but I seem to recall Stan Jones wielding the willow to some effect.

    Jim Cumbes springs to mind.

Perhaps the clubs won't let players too near the hard ball these days....played against lots of Posh players in the Peterborough league...Coventry keeper Steve Ogrizovic claim to fame is that he bowled out the great Viv Richards.

I understand that Lester Piggott was pretty good on the fiddle...

Chris Balderstone played for Leicester and England at cricket and for Carlisle in the 1st division in the mid 70's.

Phil Neale Lincoln City and Worcestershire.

Yes quite a few when you delve a bit...like way back in the day Compton played for the Gooners and England.

The quick bowler Arnie Sidebottom belonged to the last genuine breed of all rounders. Ian Botham not so genuine as he dabbled a bit with S****horpe (I think)
