Sad indeed. A great and important figure in English football. Had the pleasure of hearing him talk many times on the radio, as i'm sure we all did over the years, and he always made a lot of sense, but in a measured and respectful way, whatever he had to say.

Did a great job for Leeds IMO though many forget - steadied the ship with an ageing team, got them to the final of the European cup [Which saw us cheated out of the trophy yet again] and then started the rebuilding of Revies old side..
RIP Jimmy - an unsung hero if ever there was one.

    RIP Jimmy.
Always enjoyed his football views which were well presented and thought out with care, sadly missed.

Was pleased when we appointed him in '74 as were many at the time - for me it rid the memory of having been stood at the tunnel end at Wembley with thousands of Leeds fans watching Clough leading out Billy with the lads alongside Shankly for that Charity Shield pre season game. One surrealist experience of many following the club throughout the years ..........

A dignified and great Manager for us at a difficult time producing some attractive football too.

Farewell pipe smoking Jim, came in and sorted the mess left after the departure of Brian Clough. Proper footballing man, 600 plus appearances for his only club, captained his country and was never bitter at missing out on playing in the World Cup of 66'. In the years following his all to short managerial career was a calming voice on the BBC football coverage. Listening to the tributes paid to him today nobody remembers him as anything less than Gentleman Jim, always had the time to talk football in a calm and logical way. RIP mate.
