WBA's James McLean seems to be the targeted replacement.
Hmmmm. McLean 1 goal per 8 appearances throughout his career (1 in 10 in the PL, 1 in 8 SBC). Russell 1 in 4 career and 1 in 5 for Derby (Figures rounded up/down).
Fans say JR doesn't have enough end product........ is McLean the answer? Computer says no.

Bloody typical...had his best game for years at St. Andrews, won me temporarily over, and now he’s off.
Seems like bad timing so late in the window. Is he going now or at the end of the season?

Russell has been fantastic this season he has played some of the best football he has ever played in a rams shirt despite being inconsistent at times since he has been a Ram. Johnny sees that his future in the PL is not for him and he would like to move to the MLS where he finds his skills more better suited to his game as well as a dream move for him in making it big in America.
All the best Johnny in your future endeavours you have been a great servant at this club and you will always be a ram in our hearts.
Rowett will now see Russell out of his future plans and will be looking for a replacement for him which will see Russell take a backseat in our promotional campaign and someone new helping us to achieve success going forward.

Johnny Russell has done ok for us, nothing special but his effort made supporters take to him. Now an average player in a decent side.
Will do well in MLS.
