My own issue is that I am an avid supporter of the Anti-Dog meat trade, while still openly eating meat from farm animals here in the UK. My issue with dog meat though is through the treatment of the animals, as being opposed to actually eating the meat, but nonetheless I fear there is a hint of hypocrisy on my part and something that i struggle with. I dare say i will make the full change to Vege at some point.

For the uk public, a lot of it depends on how cute the animal is. Most people will be rightly outraged at seal clubbing, fox hunting, badger baiting etc. That concern doesn’t usually extend to pigs, cows & sheep. We like to think they’re treated well on uk farms but there’s plenty of evidence to suggest that’s miles away from reality.

Go veggie! If nothing else, it’s great fun being a pontificating @rsehole about it on here

I have toyed with the idea of going Veggie for a long time now. My wife is a vegetarian and 99% of my meals dont contain meat, though this is through ease of cooking rather than an actual hatred of meat. That said, I have struggled over the last few years with accepting that I eat meat from slaughtered animals. My wife on other hand just doesnt like the taste and texture of meat (get yer heads out the gutter), though accepts that eating meat is normal and doesnt judge anyone for it.

I wouldn't beat yourself up too much on that one. Skinning and boiling dogs alive is beyond horrific.

Depends on what society looks like (I would say the odds of a socialistic utopia are slim) but it may simply be the case that meat becomes prohibitively expensive. Fake meat (as in fake meat that is fundamentally meat on its organic structure but isn’t sourced from a living animal) is surely not too far off. Real meat will probably become a delicacy for the upper classes.
