    Are We Chancers ?

    Are We Chancers.

The transfer window has closed once more with our Club again not covering themselves well, I love my Club as much as anyone, but we need to stop just viewing through the window and start dragging players through the door.

As army on another thread has stated, D4, one of our most creative players has been struggling for 3 weeks with a niggle, only when it became painful did they get a specialist in, now he's out for at least 2 months.

Wood, we was told would be out for a week or 2 which has turned into over 6 weeks.

Last nights game saw us down to the bare bones, without Mee and Long we have nobody else to cover them.

Barnes is a menace but not much else, Vokes is not good enough, Wells has not been given a chance and Wood has not yet fired, also note when Brady was supposedly coming into his own Wood and Co were still not sticking them away as we'd want.

Which brings me back to the transfer window, we sit in 7th/8th, with BT's flattering positivity of our recruitment team they really seem lacklustre, surely we'd want to maintain our highest position ? remember last season's final game against West Ham, we lost approx. £5 Million with that defeat.

Also bedding in Players, we hear this all the time from Dyche, surely we should have seen more activity in the January window to bed in for next year.

Note Dyche's post match comments last night "some of these players coming into the team are finding their feet", strange comment IMO.

Hurray, we purchased Lennon and loaned NK, did you notice the improvement in our team when they actually came on ? We looked a lot better, someone should inform Dyche to play these 2 at the start and maybe put Arfield, Westwood, Hendrick and co on in the last 10 minutes then we might make a game of it for 80% of the time.

Time will tell with Lennon and NK, they hopefully will provide the ammunition for our frontmen, but as I have said above, nobody is showing to be an out and out goal scorer, which is what we need, if it don't happen in this latter part of the season then we will be 6 months on still trying to rectify the situation in attack and defence.

We don't seem slow in the transfer market, WE ARE, whether true or not I read on the net we was trying to get an Anderlecht player (Hanni) as he was about to be sold to a Russian Club on Monday, if true it was too little too late, which sums us up to a T.

I was in a bar in Newcastle until the early hours this morning post match Alto. In the bar were half a dozen Burnley fans from Dortmund of all places and half a dozen others.

They knew I had a "connection" to Clarets Mad and I was unofficially invited to convene the discussion.

Over about 12 pints of Guinness and a lot of Irish Whiskey chasers I concluded from the discussion (these are just opinions mind and are only related to our transfer dealings):

Lennon looks to be a staggering bit of business!

    Nkoudou wants buying in July.

Westwood, Arfield and perhaps even Hendrick should be offloaded asap.

Get rid of Wood to somewhere where is heart is in it.

We obviously spent £5 million on Wells to avoid paying Corporation Tax (or something) so get shut.

We must buy another centre half in July, no excuses, no ifs ands or buts.

We must buy two proven goal scorers and keep Vokes and Barnes to give us four options up front.

Westwood, Arfield, Hendrick and Marney need replacing with two more Jack Corks and two more Steven Defours.

For once I have to agree with you Alto, some of this business should and could have been sorted in the January window. I am sure Dave Baldwin could tell us all of the reasons it didn't happen but all I know is 2,500 Burnley fans who spent fortunes in Newcastle yesterday deserve better than the absolute dross that was dished up last night!

Dyche was no different at Watford with the soundbites - Alto......slow process - but getting there - and not the finished product etc etc etc....I ignore it, is just filling space imo.

I think the current plan at Burnley - is to do just enough - but to look sound like we're doing more - so if that expectation exploits us into imagining a gush of quality when the truth is but a dribble - then yes - the teams run by Chancers.
    All games within games.

Looking increasingly that way.At least we have temporarily solved the pacy winger problem. What I cannot understand is why the new recruits do not get starts when the likes of Hendrick,Arfield and Westwood do.

Because we have a rubbish manager. Why is'nt Vokes started instead of being given the last 5 mins of a match.Wells never started.
    It beggars believe.

    A good post Alto

I agree with all of it tbh, I can understand caution at blowing money on what can only be described as chances - but Dyche isn't one for those and seems to like proven people from our leagues anyway.( problem with this is those players come with a price tag).

However we lately are buying/ loaning players with flair and talent and then not using them.

The problem with our squad is that quite a few of them are what I would call borderline premier league ( fair play to Dyche for getting a tune out of them) here's the But , we simply are not progressive ---- don't know if that's Dyche or the club but you can't shop bargain basement forever.

The price you pay for a little success is pressure of a different sort in that people now say Burnley are an established Premier league club and should act like one.

I realise we are in a better seam than when Marney got injured and we were relegated and we have more bodies to cover this time around , my thoughts are though that the bodies are just that simply bodies.

I will watch with interest in the summer to see if Sean can up his game and let go of some of the players that get starts when tbh they shouldn't and also if we are looking at a better quality player to replace them.

I'm certainly not all doom and gloom and appreciate where we are regardless of my thoughts.

I do feel though that if we don't invest in the closed season we will get left behind.
