Quite right....Rowett has a much better eye as he hasn't gorged (sic) it like Clough did. Such wisdom in one so developmentally challenged.

My honest opinion is our best entertaining football was under Mac, sometimes it was wonderful to watch but pretty pretty doesn't always work. A tight defence getting the ball out means we'll change those losses into draws and if we're lucky into wins. Thank god its not like the Wimbledon of the Vinny Jones days but something like in between!

This offense is for serious foul play.

Serious foul play is a foul committed using excessive force ,"the player...is in danger of injuring his opponent" and no attempt to play the ball.

Now looking at this foul. I would say 65% of referees would sanction with the red card. Was the threat of injury possible, was there intent, was there no attempt to play the ball?

On the balance of probabilities, I would give a yellow.

I think Lawrence is a real confidence player and that’s not easy sometimes with Derby’s fans.
When he arrived he tried too hard and was sometimes reckless leading to unnecessary bookings. Then, just as he was settling down, he got that ankle injury and had to start again. He’s been a disappointment overall but has shown potential. The only thing that fans should get on players’ backs about is, imo, lack of effort. Lawrence is trying and it’ll help no one if the fans start getting at him. Suspect he just needs a break, a confidence lift and he’ll be flying. Hope it happens soon.

Brentford will not be appealing against Sergi Canos red card against Derby County as they do not think they will win the appeal even though they themselves still think it wasn’t a red card. The reason they do not see them winning the appeal is that the terminology that was used to describe the excessive tackle on Olsson will not get the FA to overturn the red card.

They do not want to risk an accusation of a frivolous appeal and losing Sergi for more than three games so they will not be appealing.

Canos. Tweeted on Saturday night that it was a red card and that he has learned from it

The lad has obviously seen the video of the tackle then......

He wasn't so sure at the time, claiming he had played the ball. However, going in two footed and studs showing makes any ball contact irrelevant. Decent of the lad to own up to it having been a fair cop.
