He was invited to watch the game in Leeds 4-1 loss to Cardiff but though bookmakers, made him the favourite to take over as always of any club that crops up he won’t be in the running.

Yorkshire Post confirm that Leeds will have a successor in the next 24 hours but won’t be Steve McClaren.

Other candidates are: Simon Grayson, Gordon Strachan, Pep Clotet, Paul Heckingbottom, Marco Silva, Jaap Stam, Paul Clement, Slaven Bilic and Franc de Boer.

Former Watford manager Marco Silva is the preferred choice by fans to take over Christiansen as Leeds Utd boss.

Did a fantastic job at Watford Marco Silva but soon as Everton came snooping in for him it effected Watford’s good form and they slipped down the table unable to rediscover their fine form and he was later sacked.

He is a promising young manager but like McClaren he left the speculation run on about wether he was going to go to Everton or not and that made him lose the dressing room and respect for him and they put out consecutive poor results which cost him the job.

His next job he will have to be fully committed to the task put in front of him and avoid any scrutiny if any other team comes in for him if he does a good job at Leeds.

According to Sky a moment or so ago, Heckingbottom is the latest favourite. Odd choice, I know resources are limited but he’s not exactly worked wonders at Barnsley. Pity, reckon Leeds and McClaren just about deserve each other.

Heckingbottom recently signed a new contract two days ago at Barnsley doubt he will be leaving.

Plus they are just above the relegation zone and fighting for their life’s, Heckingbottom is in the same situation that Clough was in last season when he went to talk with Forest after they wanted him to become their next manager but he decided that at this moment it wasn’t the right time and he didn’t want to leave Burton in a tight spot in a relegation fight so he stayed and kept them up.

Heckingbottom recently signing a new contract deal two days ago will show his commitment to keeping Barnsley up this season.
