    Motivation

Are we employing managers who can't create a highly motivated team?

Or are we employing players who can't be motivated?

Or both, or none of the above?

Apologies for posting this from not being able to attend games but I keep reading about players not being "at it" (Ray) and post match posts on here where fans are coming back from games under Csaba where the players still don't seem to be up for it.

I watched the St Mirren game on TV and I have to admit I got the feeling that some of our players didn't fancy it. Could be wrong from TV pics but it does leave me wondering if seeing players getting injuries has caused some of our players to get the fear.

You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. That's the main problem. We have a few exceptions, but we are expecting far too much from bang average Championship players, believing them to be Top Six regulars. They can't give more than they can give, mentally or physically. Being regularly pushed to produce more than their abilities will allow, only demoralises them. Those than have that bit extra skill are soon brought down to earth by the standards around them.

But other Championship teams with similar players seem to be motivated? Dunfermline may be less "talented" but they appear to be motivated, Livingston similar? I don't think St Mirren are more talented individually apart from one player, but as a whole play like St Johnstone of old, stuffy, hard, determined and motivated.

Yes there is a motivational issue. I should have covered that. It might be that the high expectations that exist at Tannadice could act as a 'demotivator' with the not so few players who cannot regularly produce the high levels required? This then spreads to the ones who are up for the gig.

The players don't display even a personal pride in individual level.

These are mainly boys who never have known anything but full time football and float from club to club.

When faced with a challenge they are content to go through the motions.

They can't even, on an individual level, bring themselves to go "**** this, I'm not going doing like the rest of you. I'm going to run myself ragged even at 3 down to Morton".

We need stability and the manager is the position through which that is achieved.

I don't want us to end up like some club's down south.

We need to be long term. These players are holding us hostage to the short term cause they are willing to give in and go through the motions.

If wanting my team, the team with the biggest budget in the league, assembled from an almost blank canvas in the summer to win the league is high expectation, then I need to re-assess things.

The ability is there, the application is not.

    Spineless ****e the beds.

Think it's a culmination of unrest thoughout the club, short term deals, no real vision for the future other than you must get us back to the Premier league.
We all think our club is the *******s. Bet not even half of our players really think that, despite their spin to the press.

Of course they don't. It's a sad inditment of the modern footballer but they don’t give a flying feck about Dundee United Football Club. They are just there to pick up a good wage.

I’ve never felt more alienated from the club. It starts with the man at the top and filters right down to the 11 imposters who wear the strip each weekend.

I can forgive a lot but not lack of heart, desire and pride.

We are in **** state right now, and it’s going to take a lot to turn it round.
