U23s v Norwich

According to the Eastern Daily Press and the Norwich website the home fixture with us has now been moved to St Georges Park to protect the Carrow Road pitch. The game is sheduled to take place this Friday 9th Feb KO 7.00. I think I will pop down and watch. It will be good to get a look at some of our youngsters.

Around one hundred or so hardy supporters, including a few from Norwich, braved a freezing evening at St Georges Park, to witness Wolves win this Premier League Cup encounter 2-0.

It was a good game to watch, with plenty of exsciting play from both sides, playing on the excellent Sir Bobby Charlton pitch. Wolves were physically bigger than Norwich, and often won the 50-50 ball. After a strong first half performance Wolves, the away side who played in their pale blue kit, took the lead after about thirty minutes when Pedro Goncalves hammered home after disaray in the Norwich defence.

After half time Norwich started to take the game to Wolves but the defence in which, captain Ben Goodliffe and Cameron John were outstanding stood firm. The perfect surface allowed both sides to play some excellent football, and the future looks good for all the players on the field. With about fif**** to go Carlos Heredia linked up well with full back Oskar Buur, before beating their defender on the outside and after cutting into the area slotted the ball into the far corner of the Norwich net. Niall Ennis who had come on to replace the impressive no 9 Benny Ashley-Seal, nearly added to the score, when a header just landed on top of the net. Shortly afterwards Oxborough. in the Cannaries goal made a stunning save to tip a long range piledriver on to the crossbar.

Benny Ashley- Seal stands well over six feet tall and is built like Cyril Regis, but what a turn of pace the lad has. I can see this young man causing defenders problems in the future. All the players looked comfortable on the ball and a high level of skill was displayed.
Sitting in the stands at Molineux you forget just how much noise there is down at pitch level with the Wolves keeper, Jon Flatt, an imposing figure, one of the most vocal.

When you think that Nevis, Jota, Gibbs-White, Vinagre, Mir, Enobakhare, Ronan, and Hause are still eligable for this team, plus the fact that Scott Sellars has several u23s out on loan, the future looks bright, the future looks Old Gold.
