    Do They Deserve Our Sympathy

We play Sheff W tonight, and currently languishing there is one of our players, Jacob Butterfield. He's currently out of their team, and it seems he's been as much of a success at Wednesday as he was at Derby. Barring some miracle, he'll at best be sent back to us for benchwarming/U23 duties, or loaned out, then pedalled off to a lesser team when his contract runs out. Not exactly a stellar recent career.

Using Butterfield as an example, but there are plenty more I could name, do you:

    a) feel sorry for him, there's nothing worse in employment than being out of favour

    b) feel nothing for him, you'd happily take a bit of the 'bad luck' he's having for £10k a week (I estimate)

    c) something else

    Anyone?

Enigmatic stuff RR. Butterfield is barred from playing tonight but someone over on the Telegraph website said 'Can we insist that Butterfield plays? We need all the help we can get at the moment'....

Now at first take thats just a bit of good natured joshing, but to quote the old schoolyard saying, 'how would you like it?'

b, if you're not good enough, then you're not good enough. There's little advantage to sticking around in a job you're not good enough at, where you'll never be happy. League One might just be his level.

I think its time for him to max out pension contributions and consider retraining and alternative employment routes. His career isnt likely to resurrect itself at almost 28 and he has to find a job where those ghastly tattoos can be concealed

He was on fire at Huddersfield and did well for us at the start of his Derby career. What the hell went wrong?

Mebbe the Terriers will take him back

You’re right MA...people tend to forget that he was a relative success in that first season.
Never got the feeling he really enjoyed playing for us though...always looked miserable...shouldn’t have been ‘cos I bet he’s on more than Andy’s estimated £10k per week.
Don’t think he’s ever been right since that wedding bust up - or whatever it was - and he should have kept his comments about Derby to himself when he left for Wednesday.

He must be thinking what if I hadn't gone to Derby?

Maybe I would be running the Huddersfield midfield in the premier league.
